Frida Kahlo

1907–1954

Mexican painter known for her unflinching self portraiture, symbolic realism, and exploration of identity, pain, womanhood, and resilience. Kahlo transformed personal suffering into visual language, merging the physical and emotional body with striking honesty.

Frida was inspired by The Two Fridas, painted after her divorce from Diego Rivera, a work that explores emotional duality. One heart is exposed and bleeding while the other holds steady, strength and devastation existing at the same time. This set was born from that tension. Drawing from the painting’s muted ivory, carmine, and shadowed tones, I explored its colors and shapes before grounding the piece in a deep purple true to the brand as a core staple, while retaining muted pink to honor the original work.
